David Cook auditioned for American Idol on a whim. His brother, Andrew, was auditioning and David came along for moral support. He ended up auditioning with Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" and made it to Hollywood. There, he sang (Everything I Do) I Do It For You by Bryan Adams. Then he performed I'll Be by Edwin McCain. At first, Simon Cowell was not warming up to him but that would change in the coming weeks.
David thought that he would be kicked off by the 2nd week. Of course, he went on to win the title. Here are the songs he performed throughout the weeks:
